Mission Luna-25.
🗓 Launch – August 11 at 02:10:57 (Moscow time)
The upper stage from the Russian station “Luna-25” successfully entered low Earth orbit before the flight to the Moon.
The previous Russian station Luna-24 was launched in 1976. Its return vehicle delivered about 170 g of lunar soil to Earth. Luna-25 has no return vehicle; should be the first station in history to land on the South Pole of the Moon. The main tasks are the development of soft landing technology, the study of the internal structure and the exploration of resources, including water, which is important for future lunar stations.
In 2027 and 2028, the missions of the orbiter Luna-26 and the landing station Luna-27 should take place (it will be equipped with a platform for drilling the lunar soil)
